Equipment
All of CENTRAL EMS’s
ambulances are equipped with radios which monitor our main
frequency and have private unit to unit capabilities. This
allows our crews to communicate effectively with our central
dispatch, as well as, each other.
In addition, all our ambulances
have cellular phones which allow our crews to speak directly
with a physician or to call the State Poison Control Center
when needed. This gives us the ability to provide emergency
medical intervention such as obtaining patient care orders
while in transport with a critical patient.
CENTRAL EMS
has the capability to handle neonate and critical care transports
including patients requiring the use of portable ventilators.
Hospitals across the metro area are routinely calling on
Medics to transport critically ill patients.
COMMUNICATIONS
Our communications center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is housed in a controlled environment containing the needed technology to maintain an uninterrupted, skilled, ambulance dispatch center.
All communications personnel are trained to use the dispatch/call taking software, radios, GPS tracking system, and mapping programs in the most effective manner. This allows us to quickly determine the nature of the problem and appropriate level of response.
Local radio, as well as, state wide communications is accomplished with the Southern Linc radio system, allowing us to be in radio contact with our ambulance crews at all times - anywhere in the State of Georgia and Southeastern USA.
